There are two ways to fly. On a shared flight (group joining) you pay per seat and fly with other travellers on a set morning departure. On a private charter you pay for the whole helicopter, choose your departure time and fly only with your group.
Most helicopters used for tours in Nepal carry up to five passengers at lower altitudes. At high landing sites such as Kala Patthar the limit is lower, because thin air reduces how much weight a helicopter can lift. That is why a larger group may need two helicopters.
