Trekkers who feel unwell or run out of time on the Everest Base Camp trail are often picked up from Pheriche. The flight down to Lukla takes about 15 minutes, and a direct flight to Kathmandu about 80 minutes.
At 4,371 m (14,341 ft), the air is thin. Helicopter tours keep ground time short, and anyone who flies in directly from Kathmandu should move slowly and tell the crew about a headache or breathlessness.
Helicopters fly all year when the weather allows. The clearest months are March–May and September–December. In the June–August monsoon, early morning is usually the only clear window.
Pheriche is at 4,371 m (14,341 ft) above sea level.

About 15 min to Lukla, about 80 min to Kathmandu. Flight times depend on the route, the weather and any refuelling stops.
The clearest flying months are March–May and September–December. Morning flights have the best chance of clear views, because cloud usually builds by midday.
Trips that include Pheriche start from USD 400 per person. Shared seats cost less for one or two travellers; a private charter is often better value for a group.
