EnquireSyangboche is a small, unpaved airstrip used mainly by helicopters. From here it is a short uphill walk to Hotel Everest View at about 3,880 m, whose terrace looks straight up the valley to Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam.
At 3,780 m (12,402 ft), the air is thin. Helicopter tours keep ground time short, and anyone who flies in directly from Kathmandu should move slowly and tell the crew about a headache or breathlessness.
Helicopters fly all year when the weather allows. The clearest months are March–May and September–December. In the June–August monsoon, early morning is usually the only clear window.
Syangboche & Hotel Everest View is at 3,780 m (12,402 ft) above sea level.
Syangboche airstrip above Namche Bazaar.
About 15 min from Lukla. Flight times depend on the route, the weather and any refuelling stops.
The clearest flying months are March–May and September–December. Morning flights have the best chance of clear views, because cloud usually builds by midday.
Trips that include Syangboche & Hotel Everest View start from USD 900 per charter. Shared seats cost less for one or two travellers; a private charter is often better value for a group.
